By a deed dated 18 Mar 1798 he conveyed the land to Tobias Shaubhut who paid 2 pounds 15 shillings and 3 pence to the Commonwealth of PA. Land described as a wheat field in Rapho Twp, adjacent to land of: 1) Benjamin Bonder decd, 2) Thomas Hampton, 3) late of Peter Grubb and 4) John Shaira.

LAND: Deed of sale, Tobias Shaubhut & his wife Mary of Rapho Twp to Martin Gross, Sr of Warwick Twp, dtd 20 Jul 1799; 1799; Lancaster Co, PA deed bk E, vol 3; p 557; FHL film 0021406 (Rick Crume's file #C 478); NOTE: 34 3/4 acres in Rapho Twp, adjacent to lands of Thomas Hampton, John Close, Henry B Grubb and other lands of Tobias Shaubhut. It was part of a larger tract of 98 1/2 acres called Wheat Field which the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by Patent dated 6 Jul 1799 granted to Tobias Shaubhut (Patent bk 34, p 515). It was part of land which the Commonwealth of PA granted to Tobias Shaubhut by a Patent dated 6 Jul 1799 (Patent bk 34, p 515). Witnessed by Samuel & Mary Ensminger.

Krankheit: mit zehrendem, hitzigem Fieber." (Tobias Schaubhut, from Eichen near Durlach, died 19 October, buried 21 October, age 41 years 1 month 1 day. Sickness: with debilitating, hot fever).

Churches and Cemeteries of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania: A Complete Guide, by A. Hunter Rineer,Jr. (Lancaster, Penna.: Lancaster County Historical Society, 1993; Family History Library, US/CAN 974.815 K2r), page 344, says records of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Penn Township (established in 1846 from Warwick Township) from 1790 to 1889 are missing, "except for some penciled notes by Rev. Zacharias held by the E&RHS [Evangelical and Reformed Historical Society]. Typescript of Zacharias' notes by Mrs. Luther Heisey, LCHS [Lancaster County Historical Society]; E&RHS [Evangelical and Reformed Historical Society]."

It is part of a larger tract of land which Tobias Shaubhood and his wife Mary transferred to Martin Gross by deed dated 20 Jul 1799. The said Martin Gross and his wife Christina granted the same to their two sons George & John Gross in 1801. John Gross and his wife Mary then transferred their portion to George Gross.

COURT: Appointment of guardians of the minor children of Tobias Shaubhut, late of Rapho Twp; 1806-1808; Lancaster Co, PA Orphans Court, Misc Books; p 424; FHL film 0021374 (Rick Crume's file #C 602); NOTE: On 17 Aug 1808, Martin Gross of Warwick Twp was appointed guardian of John & George Shaubhut, and Solomon Longenecker of Warwick Twp, guardian of Hanna, Mary & Susanna Shaubhut, all children under age 14.

MARRIAGE: A transcript of the records of Zion Lutheran Church, Manheim, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, by Rev. J. F. Knittle, has marriages from 1771 to 1812, but the marriage records from Oct. 16, 1782 to Mar. 9, 1807 are missing. Were Tobias Schaubhut and his wife Mary/Maria married in this church during that period?
