Does this account correctly identify William Grant as Jarvis Grant's paternal grandfather? Or was he really Samuel Grant who came from near Dublin, Ireland in the 1770s? If they weren't the same person, were they related, maybe brothers?

He fought for the British in the American Revolution & settled in York Co, NB in the 1780s. Were Samuel and William Grant related?

Wilmot United Church Records give the month and day, but not the year. According to the 1851 census he was then 44 and thus may have been born in about 1816.
