"John Adams, son of William, b. Ipswich, July, 1731, m. 1754, intentions July 20, Mary Lamson. He settled in Moultonboro’, 1768. In a list of settlers and improvements made in Moultonboro’, 1771, the brothers, William and John Adams, jointly, were proprietors of three dwelling-houses, a store, a barn, a smith-shop, a wharf and warehouse, one hundred acres of improved land, twenty-five head of cattle, ten sheep. At this time there were eleven persons in both families. In the Revolution he was commissioned, 1776, a lieutenant in the sixth company of Col. Badger’s regiment of militia, and the following year he was a lieutenant in Capt. Chase Taylor’s company, Col. Stickney’s regiment, Gen. Stark’s brigade, from July to September. He was a selectman of Moultonboro’, 1779, 1781, 1784. He d. 1814."
