BIRTH-IMMIGRATION-MILITARY: ILLUSTRATED ALBUM OF BIOGRAPHY OF THE FAMOUS VALLEY OF THE RED RIVER OF THE NORTH AND THE PARK REGIONS, INCLUDING THE MOST FERTILE AND WIDELY KNOWN PORTIONS OF MINNESOTA AND NORTH DAKOTA; 1725-1889; Chicago, Alden, Ogle & Co, 1889, copyright 1889 by Occidental Publ Co, Chicago; pp 776-779; (Rick Crume's file #G 037); NOTE: "[Jarvis] Grant is the son of William and Hannah (White) Grant... William Grant's father was also named William, and was a native of Ireland. He came to America early in the eighteenth century, settled in the United States, and was a soldier in the Revolutionary War." Does this account correctly identify William Grant as Jarvis Grant's paternal grandfather? Or was he really Samuel Grant who came from near Dublin, Ireland in the 1770s? If they weren't the same person, were they related, maybe brothers?

RELATIONSHIP: Letter from Erwin L Grant, West Hanover, MA, to Rick Crume, Glyndon, MN; 1770-1813; Letter dtd 4 May 1977; (Rick Crume's file #G 053); ; NOTE: Samuel Grant, a witness to the marriage of William Grant & Hannah White, 1813, Saint Mary's Parish, York Co, NB, came from Ireland, possibly the Dublin area, in the 1770s with two brothers. He fought for the British in the American Revolution & settled in York Co, NB in the 1780s. Were Samuel and William Grant related?
