BIOGRAPHY-LAND-DEATH-BURIAL: Letter from Rachael Anderson, Sonoma, CA to Rick Crume, Glyndon, MN; 1745-1801; Letter dtd 10 Oct 1977; ; (Rick Crume's file #C 62); NOTE: Philip Crume died 20 Apr 1801 on his homestead near Bardstown in Nelson Co, KY and is buried in Poplar Flat Cemetery. Not being a first son, Philip roamed westward. He worked for Ralph Withers/Weathers on his Crooked Creek Farm in Frederick Co, VA. Philip married Ralph's daughter and was given a farm on Crooked Creek. About 1762 Philip began buying land on Flint Run (now Warren Co., VA) from Lord Fairfax. Philip also bought land from others and acquired over 1,000 acres. His land on the South Branch of Flint Run was in the area bounded by four towns: Limetown, Bentonville, Browntown and Boyd's Mill. Long Mountain, Round Mountain and Gimbel Mountain were landmarks mentioned in the deeds. By 1790 Philip had purchased land (through his sons, Daniel, Ralph and Jesse) in the Poplar Flats region in Nelson Co., KY.
