Collection Scope:
Extensive collection of Ohio resources, including newspapers,
federal census records, county histories and family histories. Government
records holdings include the state archives for the state of Ohio and local
government records from counties of central Ohio.
Special Collections:
Statewide death certificates, 1909-1953.

Reference Services:
The Archives/Library will perform limited research within its
holdings. Staff will search indexes for one name or respond to one specific
question. The base fee is $25 fee for searching one name in any one specific
type of indexed record or record group during a specified time period. The
fee also covers up to 4 pages of copies and postage. Research requests must
be prepaid with check or money order payable to the Ohio Historical Society.

Copies:
Death Certificate copies: The copy fee is $7 per name/certificate. Copy
requests must be prepaid with check or money order payable to the Ohio
Historical Society. No refund will be provided for records that are searched
but not found. Copy orders must include full name of decedent, year of
death, and either the day and month or the county of death or the
certificate number. Indexed Ohio Public Record copy requests: The fee is $12
per copy request. This fee includes the search and up to 4 copies per record
of item requests plus mailing. Copy requests must be prepaid. No refund will
be provided for records searched but not found.
Circulation:
Materials may not be checked out of the Archives/Library.
Interlibrary Loan:
The Society's extensive collection of Ohio newspapers is
available through interlibrary loan at a cost of $3 per roll prepaid. See

The Ohio County History Surname Index on microfilm is also available through
